FORÓIGE
Shine a Light
At a recent meeting, Kilbrittain Foroige club welcomed Dick White and Paul Sheehan of Focus Ireland to our weekly meeting. Mr White had previously spoken to the group before the overnight last year. He inspired each member of the club to take part in a special effort to raise funds for the worthy cause of homelessness and in particular the Shine a Light campaign.
This is our second year taking part in this very worthwhile initiative. As individuals and as a group we learned a lot form this campaign for Focus Ireland. 24 members and our leaders took part that evening and we would like to thank the leaders for making this possible. The money raised were thanks to efforts of the members with sponsorship cards and the local businesses for allowing us to place collection buckets for the fundraising effort.
In total we raised €877.94. Olivia Tuthill (club treasurer) presented the cheque to Dick White on behalf of the club. It was an honour to take part in this fundraising event for a worthy cause.

European Elections
I wish to publicly express my personal thanks to our fellow-parishioner, Theresa Heaney, Bayview, Maryboro, for standing as an Independent Candidate for the European Parliament in the election next Friday, 24th May. I wish her well because her pro-life and pro-family views are shared with, and based on, the One True Faith.

With regard to the elections and the referendum, alas precedent has shown time and again that a majority of Irish Catholics leave their Baptismal Promises at home when they head out to vote, resulting in many cases in their embracing of Satan instead of renouncing him.
— Fr Jerry.

Fr Fintan Gavin will be ordained Bishop of Cork & Ross on Sunday 30th June. He has allocated each parish seven tickets to the Ceremony in the Cathedral and to supper afterwards in Rochestown Park Hotel. These tickets have been sent to the parishes now. We are inviting applications for these tickets immediately as RSVP is Sat next, 1st June. If we have more than seven applications, allocation will be decided by draw. Before applying be aware of the following:
Ceremony starts at 3.00 pm, attendees to be in place before 2.30 pm. Ceremony is expected to last about two hours.
Ample parking in supervised car parks at Farrenferris College (850 metres walk to Cathedral) and North Monastery (400 metres)
If you are going to the Cathedral you must also commit to going to Rochestown Park, as each accepted ticket will dictate numbers given to Hotel and it would be unfair on the Diocese to be left paying for empty places.
Text or email Fr Cremin on or before Friday with names of those who would wish to go.

Kilbrittain GAA on TG4
On this Sunday 15th September, TG4 will be in the parish to film an episode of ‘Go Gasta’, a show that challenges two neighbouring GAA clubs against each other in a Fun Adventure race. The show will be aired from October to November on TG4. Kilbrittain’s team will race to Ballinspittle GAA pitch in the morning from 9am, starting at the community pitch. There will be obstacles at various points along the route. Courcey Rovers team will then race back the same route in the afternoon, finishing in Kilbrittain community pitch at around 4;30-5pm. We are encouraging the people of the parish to come out and support the team at the start and at the finish and along the route. The route will be publicized locally and on the GAA facebook page. The fastest time will be the winner and the winning team will be announced at the end of the day. We will host a BBQ at the finish and all are welcome! This is a great opportunity to showcase the parish and the village and the community spirit to a wider TV audience. Please come out and support the team!

Kilbrittain Foroige
Kilbrittain Foroige Club returns after the summer break on Friday the 20th of September, at 9.30 pm, in The Parish Hall, with registration of existing and new members from 2nd year up. We will also take expressions of interest from 1st years who will be placed on a waiting list, and will be contacted if places become available later this year or at registration time next year.
As places are limited, we ask all those interested in joining the club for the coming year to attend on the night. A Parent/Guardian must attend on the night with your child. The membership fee of €30 per member or €40 per family will also be collected on the night. This money goes directly to National HQ.
The club cannot function without the help of parents. Under new requirements of the Child Protection Laws, all helping parents must be Garda vetted. To facilitate this, we are asking parents to bring at least two forms (and ideally more) of strong photographic IDs, and separate proofs of address on the night.  Strong IDs would include passports, photographic Public Services Card, credit card, Drivers Licence and home utility bills.  Other forms of ID (e.g. old style drivers licence, other letters confirming address) may also be acceptable if three or four forms are presented – we can check them against the National Vetting scoring system to see if the combination of ID’s is acceptable or not.  Full details, including the scoring system and acceptable forms of ID, are available on the Kilbrittain Foroige Facebook page.  Please ring or text Ted at 087/6329290 for further information or any query about suitable forms for vetting. If you were successfully vetted last year then you do not require to be vetted this year.

Priests’ Graves
Many people have commented favourably on the refurbishment work done on the priests’ graves in the churchyard. Cork Memorials (Foley’s Timoleague) are to be complimented on a very thorough restoration.
